The Top Ten Seinfeld Guest Stars

The Top Ten Seinfeld Guest Stars

Legendary actor Philip Baker Hall, known to Seinfeld fans as Lt. Bookman, The Library Cop from the Larry Charles' penned classic "The Library" (S3E5), passed away this week.

The outpouring of love from the Seinfeld community was overwhelming.

Many fans called his performance as the deadpan, no-nonsense "Joe Friday," the greatest of any Seinfeld guest-star, and in some cases, the greatest of any sitcom.

We came up with our Top-10 Seinfeld Guest Stars who appeared in just one episode.

The Criteria:

We omitted recurring characters, Jerry and George's parents, Puddy, Tim Whatley, J.Peterman, Newman, Mickey, Banya, and Jackie Chiles, to name a few.

We allowed a second appearance - if the second appearance was in The Finale.

10. The Doorman (Sal)

The Doorman - From Soup Nazis to Nuts: 100 Best 'Seinfeld' Characters ...

"You really think you're better than me, don't you!?"

Played by Jerry Seinfeld's pal, and frontrunner for the George Costanza role, The Doorman is one of the only male characters to perplex Jerry as much as his female love interests so often did.

Jerry's inquisitive nature is a prominent character trait. He walks through life with a childlike curiosity, always questioning, always looking for comedic material. The Doorman wraps his mind into a pretzel as he plays head games with Jerry.

The maniacal laugh. The wry smile. Larry Miller plays the role to perfection ratcheting up the sinisterness with each scene like a villain in a Hollywood thriller.

9. Jean-Paul

"Why separate knob?! Why separate knob?!"

Jeremiah Birkett steals this episode. Almost every line Jean-Paul delivers is an instant classic. "Why separate knob?" "Soak of the year" "Look at the cute little bastard" "This son of a bitch is ice cold."

The poor guy just means well, and yet everything goes wrong for him...all because of the main four characters.
